The three beautifully styled apartments of the Fleetinsel Gästewohnungen offer the pleasures of
private accommodation in the very heart of the city and will make you feel fully at home even
during longer periods of stay in Hamburg. Visiting on business does not mean you have to
relinquish the comfort and convenience of your own home.

The self-contained apartments are generously spaced, each measuring about 45 m 2 , with a
separate living room and bedroom, a well-appointed kitchenette and bathroom. Two of them
also have their own balcony; they are all equipped with telephone, cable TV and a stereo music
system and there is sufficient furniture for you to invite friends and colleagues round for dinner.
With their relaxed, peaceful atmosphere the apartments offer ideal conditions for out-of-office
work as well.

Located in the centre of Hamburg, the Fleetinsel Gästewohnungen are on the third floor of a
beautifully restored building that dates back to the Wilhelminian Gründerzeit period and belongs
to a historic ‘counting house' ensemble that was once typical of this mercantile city. Today, the
last surviving, fully intact examples of this style of architecture are to be found here, in the
small historic Fleetinsel quarter close to the harbour. In buildings of this kind built between the
seventeenth and twentieth centuries the realms of work and private life were always closely
intertwined. Spaces once used for storing goods imported from all over the world by Hamburg's
merchants now house artists' studios and creative agencies, seven of the city's leading art galleries
for contemporary art, the alternative art and performance space ‘Westwerk', the art store
‘Multiple Box', the antiquarian shop for books and prints, ‘Joachim Lührs', and the largest specialist
bookshop for art, photography, architecture and film in northern Germany, ‘Sautter & Lackmann'.

In this unique setting we have endeavoured to blend the singular ambience of a historic building
with the convenience of modern furnishings and amenities.

These apartments are highly popular with people in theatre and film staying in Hamburg while
they are working on a project. Attracted by the apartments' unconventional character and the
vibrant neighbourhood, artists and ‘creatives' are also regular guests. But it is above all freelancers
visiting Hamburg to develop and supervise projects or networks who appreciate the apartments'
unique mix of ‘private refuge' and metropolitan surroundings. And if the family is coming to stay
over the weekend, space is no issue.

The Fleetinsel caters to all gastronomic tastes – downstairs you'll find the lively bistrot ‘Marinehof';
next door is a chic café-bar ‘1. Liebe', or else you drop into the innovative-yet-classical restaurant
‘Rialto'. Snacks and meals, coffee and drinks are available from 9 am till one in the morning. And
if you prefer cooking ‘at home' there is a colourful range of bakeries, grocery shops, delicatessen
and small supermarkets in the near vicinity, no more than 5 minutes walk away. Not to mention a
delightful farmers' market, open twice a week on the picturesque Grossneumarkt square close by.

Neuer Wall , a stylish street with an attractive range of quality stores, is only a few hundred yards
from the door, while a number of theatres, the opera, the ‘Laeiszhalle' concert hall as well as many
of the city's renowned museums are easy and quick to reach – on foot or by one of the rental bikes
available at the ‘docking station' opposite the apartments. Or you can travel by public transport –
the Stadthausbrücke S-Bahn station is just 150 yards from the building, while it's not much further
to the Rödingsmarkt station on the city's U-Bahn metro line. The apartments are ideally placed for
talking a five-minute stroll down to the Jungfernstieg by the Alster Lake and into the city centre.
And in less than ten minutes you can reach the Elbe and Hamburg's fascinating harbour, explore
the growing HafenCity and admire its cutting-edge architecture and Hamburg's new cultural landmark,
the Elbphilharmonie, or promenade along the river towards the colourful St. Pauli quarter and Altona.

Here are a few impressions of the three apartments. If they appeal to you we would be glad to give
you more detailed information.

We would be delighted to welcome you as a guest in the Fleetinsel Gästewohnungen.
